The assessment used to calculate your property taxes is determined by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC). MPAC is the organization that classifies and assesses all properties in Ontario under the Assessment Act, and regulations established by the Provincial Government. From the information supplied by MPAC, the Town of Shelburne calculates the tax amounts due on an individual property and issues a tax bill. If you feel your assessed value or property classification is not correct, the deadline to file ofr a Request for Reconsideration (RfR) or an Appeal is March 31 of the tax. year. The assessed value of your property is used as the basis for calculating your property taxes. For more information on your assessment contact the MPAC office at l-866-296-MPAC (6722).
