The assessment used to calculate your property taxes is determined by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC). MPAC is the organization that classifies and assesses all properties in Ontario under the Assessment Act, and regulations established by the Provincial Government. From the information supplied by MPAC, the Town of Shelburne calculates the tax amounts due on an individual property and issues a tax bill. If you feel your assessed value or property classification is not correct, the deadline to file ofr a Request for Reconsideration (RfR) or an Appeal is March 31 of the tax. year. The Town of Shelburne issues tax bills twice per year. An Interim tax bill in January and a Final tax bill in July. Each bill has stubs for two installments. These installments are normally due in February, May, August and October.

Payments for taxes can be made by cash, cheque, debit, on-line banking or at your financial institution. Payments may also be dropped off after hours in the night deposit box (brass mail slot) located at the employee entrance on Victoria Street.
Residents may choose one of two options for their pre authorized payment plan for poperty taxes. They may pay by installment due date or on a monthly payment plan.
The Town of Shelburne now accepts Visa and Mastercard as a payment option via the Paymentus Corporation. Credit card payments can only be made online or by phone.
Paymentus Corporation is a third party automated payment service. This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Paymentus Corporation will charge a convenience fee for each transaction.
